NorthEast of the Well just finished our 2nd "Jail to Jerusalem" trip to the Holy Lands. We took a group of 20 - comprised of our ministry and outreach partners, community and staff - and journeyed to Israel for a 10 day leadership development experience. The ultimate goal of this trip is to raise up teachers of God's Word: by seeing sites and walking where Christ did, we let scripture take root in our own lives so we can pass it along with new understanding and passion. We didn't waste any time in practicing - most members prepared and shared a biblical teaching at a site during the trip. God is developing leaders and teachers from a group that used to be users and abusers - this is where we see our vision statement come to life: THE OUTCAST BECOMES THE WITNESS!
Check out our Facebook page for a more thorough coverage of our trip. https://www.facebook.com/northeastofthewell/
We loved taking part in a NIGHT OF WORSHIP at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church last Saturday. NorthEast was present the entire weekend: Sunday was St. Andrew's Mission Fair, and our team was in the plaza, talking all about our ministry and how people from SAPRES could get involved. Thanks again for having us!
Our Annual Women's Discipleship Retreat took place January 25 & 26. Ladies attended from our Anaheim, Newport, and Long Beach communities. Theme of the weekend: choosing to be ALL IN as a follower of Christ. Sweet times were shared together on morning walks, around the table, in God's Word and in prayer for one another.
We recently got to be special guests at the Orange County Teen Challenge graduation! NorthEast brought worship & the Word, and heard 3 stellar men share how their lives have been dramatically changed. Pray for these 3 grads as they head to The Castle in Riverside to complete the next phase of their program: WE ARE ALWAYS LEFT BLESSED & REFRESHED AFTER A TC GRADUATION CEREMONY!
We sent a group of 6 preteen girls off to winter camp last weekend at Forest Home, a Christian campground. These kids come to NorthEast of the Well regularly with their moms/grandmas and represent Anaheim, Newport & Long Beach. They've been through a lot in their lives, watching their caregivers go through addiction, recovery and restoration. At Forest Home, they enjoyed a special weekend JUST FOR THEM: they played games, learned about Jesus, worshiped, and shared their hurts and struggles in a safe, encouraging place. Thank you to those who made this retreat possible: a special shoutout to NorthEast staff (aka camp counselors) Haylie Greggory and Shaneen Neag, as well as driver Jason Griffice.
Serving USA (previously Serving California) featured NorthEast of the Well in their December newsletter. Serving USA partners with NorthEast to provide funds, support, and guidance as we grow. We chose to share about our ministry through the lens of a testimony, and Shaneen, our Long Beach area coordinator, was more than willing to tell what God and NorthEast has done in her life. Please click below to enjoy the whole article (scroll down the page just a little). This newsletter went out to 18,000 people via email! We are so grateful for this platform, allowing us to share about lives changed with a new, WIDE audience.
At our New Year's Eve Service in Santa Ana, our NorthEast community gathered to worship and bring in the new year RIGHT: we nailed to the cross the things that hold us back. Pastor Jason said, "This was one of the best things NorthEast has ever done. The call to repentance for 2019 was exactly what we needed.” NOTE: Our new Santa Ana gatherings start January 16, and will continue every Wednesday @ 5:00 p.m.
Special chefs from Open Gate (culinary training & mentoring program), as well as Chris Joiner, worked hard to prepare a Christmas meal for over 100 people. We switched up the tables to eat family style, and the NE staff served each person. Our LB community members were represented from Flossie Lewis Recovery, Daisy House, Lydia House, LA Teen Challenge, and more! We played our favorite crowd mixer, Human Bingo (for the first time in Long Beach!), held a raffle, and enjoyed worship & the Word. The kids had a celebration themed HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS. MERRY CHRISTMAS - WE LOVE YOU LONG BEACH!
Newport + Anaheim gatherings combined at St. Andrew's last Monday to celebrate Christmas together! Our community members were represented from Prototypes, Ryan's House, Grandma's House, OC Teen Challenge, Village of Hope and more! With our vans, drivers, and a borrowed bus, we brought in the party. We played our favorite crowd mixer, Human Bingo, held a raffle, and enjoyed worship, the Word, and the ALWAYS delicious dinner from our Loaves & Fishes team. MERRY CHRISTMAS, NEWPORT + ANAHEIM!
NorthEast of the Well was honored to benefit from a fabulous and festive event last weekend at the private home of Mark & Karen Hedstrom. Our hosts went above and beyond offering delicious hors d'oeuvres, desserts & take-home treats. Our NorthEast team presented to the crowd through worship, testimonies and sharing. The climax of the evening was entertainment provided by Raffia, who presented “A Tribute to Motown”. Raffia is an R&B Soul/Jazz Artist who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry: The Jacksons, Gloria Estefan, Toni Braxton & many more. She was joined by C.C. Thomas Jr. who is an Emmy-nominated songwriter and the musical director for Diana Ross. We moved and grooved the night away, while raising funds for ministry in 2019. A huge, over-the-top thank you to Mark & Karen Hedstrom.
Thanks to WOMEN AT THE WELL AUXILIARY who took a mini road trip with us up to Long Beach last Friday. We piled in the NorthEast van with gifts and lunch to bless the women of Flossie Lewis Recovery. We worshiped, ate, and heard a powerful word on HOPE from teacher Gina Hughes. Special shout out to @Heather Re for making beautiful scarves for each lady - they felt oh so special.
GAME TWO: We were invited to play softball a 2nd time with the inmates of Centinela State Prison. Last weekend, Sarah, Gina, and Emily went to represent NorthEast, joining John of Serving USA (side note: John served time at this very prison - what a testimony!).
Gina Hughes, one of our teaching and discipleship leaders, tells how she shared the Gospel with a couple of the inmates (read below). All 3 of our NE staff had the opportunity to speak about Christ's love and encourage these men. Centinela State is a maximum security prison, where inmates are serving long-term to life sentencing. Our next game is in March: contact us if you "got game" talking Jesus & softball.
MEET TEAM ISRAEL 2019!!! Yesterday we held our first team meeting at the home of Tim & Laura Suk for our second "Jail to Jerusalem" trip. Represented among this group is our community members (from Newport, Anaheim, and Long Beach!), NE staff, outreach partners (Grandma's House of Hope), ministry partners (OC and LA Teen Challenge), and more. We shared, worshiped, prayed and began to bond as a team. This is a "leadership development" trip, aiming to equip us better to understand and teach the Word of God. Our trip is February 2019 and we'll keep you updated ... please keep us in prayer!
Last week, we distributed 36 TURKEYS among our NorthEast community to make their holiday extra special. We drove around and delivered the birds to sober living homes, families, and recovery programs throughout Anaheim, Costa Mesa & Long Beach. Pictured is one of our favorite families from Long Beach preparing for their dinner.
Thank you journalist Bruce Cook, for mentioning NorthEast in the Daily Pilot online!

NorthEast of the Well, a small but powerful group of O.C. locals joining forces to support fellow residents fighting substance addiction, will gather for a holiday celebration Dec. 15 to spread their message that “lasting recovery requires more than just abstinence.”
“People need to form deep relationships with others, have the opportunity to feel significance and connect with something greater than themselves,” said the organization’s Kristel Miles.
For those unfamiliar, the name of the organization is taken from the New Testament — John, Chapter 4 — describing a woman at a water well encountering Jesus Christ. In the modern era, NorthEast of the Well offers an outreach program affecting some 350 O.C. residents every week in various forms of rehab.
Volunteers visit some 15 county programs and sober residences and provide more than 1,400 meals each month. In addition, the group transports recovery addicts weekly to worship services.

We loved being part of the THANK YOU LUNCHEON put on for Women at the Well Auxiliary on November 7. This team worked incredibly hard to make our Fall Gala a huge success! We are so grateful to all who planned, procured, and participated.
PS Women at the Well Auxiliary is led by Heather Re, and we're always looking to grow our group. Contact us to get involved in all the fun for next year!
The 3rd step of AA declares that we have "made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God". An organization called "3rd Step Ministry" holds an annual event to celebrate women who have done just that. A group from NorthEast attended and enjoyed dancing, dinner, worship and prayer. Women were represented from our staff, Anaheim community (discipleship & sober livings), and Long Beach community (Flossie Lewis Recovery). They were blessed by the event, each other's company, and what God does with lives surrendered to HIM.
We recently got to visit the Walter Hoving Home, a sister program to Teen Challenge. They gave us the grand tour and we both shared about our ministries. The Hoving Home is a discipleship program for women 18+ who have been involved in drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution and other life-controlling problems. It's located in Pasadena in a building formerly known as the Mira Monte Hotel - now housing up to 45 women who have found hope and new life! Photo from left: Shaneen Neag (NE Staff), Sally De Leon (Hoving Staff), Jen Sandoval (NE Staff), and Laura Suk (NE Executive Director).
NEW ADVENTURES! NorthEast of the Well has partnered with an organization called "Changing Strides", which will provide our children with the opportunity to learn, experience, and love horses. 2 of our preteen girls from the NorthEast community have already started lessons, with more to sign up soon. Did you know that equine interaction can help children with stress levels, problem-solving skills, impulse control, confidence-building and empathy? What a gift!
Pictured L to R: Hailey (trainer), Lily and Miss Haylie (NorthEast Staff).
Once again, we got to visit Youth Guidance Center (Juvenile Hall) to speak to incarcerated teenage girls. Last night was powerful; our team showed up and the Word of God went out. The adolescents were engaged, and had lots of questions for us - even sharing their own favorite scriptures. THANK YOU for letting us be a light for Christ here. Photo from left: Shaneen Neag (NE Staff), YGC Staff, Sarah Howard (NE Staff), Crystal Hale (NE volunteer), Sheri Snyder (Pacific Youth Correctional Ministries), Gina Hughes (NE Staff).
NorthEast of the Well was honored to recieve the Spirit of Faith Award, chosen as the non-profit of the year by Grandma's House of Hope (GHH) at their annual gala held in Anaheim, CA.
NorthEast provides bible studies 5 of their residential homes on a weekly basis. This includes shelters, safe houses and transitional livings for both men and women throughout Orange County. We also transport their residents to our larger community gatherings once a week for dinner and worship.
At the gala Pastor Laura gave the invocation prayer and received the award on behalf of the ministry.

SOLD OUT EVENT!!! NorthEast of the Well held our 3rd Annual Fall Gala last weekend, to a SOLD OUT crowd of 210 guests. The event featured raffle prizes, silent & live auctions, and a delicious catered dinner. The NorthEast community presented our ministry through a brand new video, live testimonies, music, and more. A special thank you to our Women at the Well Auxiliary, who worked tirelessly for the months prior to ensure this event was a success. A second thank you to EVERY GUEST who showed up to support. Make sure to register early next year!
Last night, we started a new men's outreach at a sober living in Costa Mesa. NorthEast will be at Ryan's House (known as "Rhino House") every Thursday night from 6:30-8 p.m. to talk about sobriety and change from a biblical perspective. Pray us up! Opportunities to help by providing dinner or joining in.
We came, we saw, we worshiped. Thanks to all who assembled last night, not as many different churches, but as "The Jesus People". With one voice, we cried out to God on behalf of our congregations and our city. Romans 15:5-6 says, "May God give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and ONE VOICE you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." A great night!
NorthEast participated through worship (Bethany Devine) and Word (Pastor Laura Suk). A special thank you to TRELLIS for including our ministry.
Friday night we got to love on some of the MOST important people in our ministry: THE VOLUNTEERS! They flocked from our Anaheim, Long Beach and Newport locations come together as one GIANT SERVE TEAM. In an exciting role reversal, the NorthEast staff took a turn waiting on our team to make them feel appreciated. A special thanks to Tim & Laura Suk for hosting 85 people in their backyard! We enjoyed gaming, worshiping, and sharing. THANK YOU TO EACH VOLUNTEER THAT MAKES THIS MINISTRY CONTINUE TO TICK! We had a BLAST, and were so thrilled to see all the faces we love in one place.
Guests for lunch! Today we hosted some of the leadership from Grandma's House of Hope (GHH) for lunch, worship, and a devotion at our office. NorthEast of the Well ministers in not one, but FOUR of their residential homes, every week. GHH provides basic needs to those facing extreme poverty, violence, human trafficking and more. And how much do you love their mission statement: "We aim to empower the invisible populations of Orange County". We were blessed to cover our friends in prayer; they've been true partners to see lives changed! Thanks for coming over.
Today we begin an exciting, WEEKLY new outreach for the ladies of Flossie Lewis Recovery Center. We started our relationship with Flossie almost 4 years ago; it was the first county program we ministered to in downtown Long Beach. Now, every Friday we get to more intimately and intentionally share God's Word with the residents over lunch and worship. Downtown LB is no joke; it's rough and raw and desperate for something REAL. If you want to attend or provide a meal to bless these women on a Friday, contact us today 949.515.WELL (9355)
IT'S BEEN A FABULOUS AND FULL WEEK AT CAMP! Our kids have been busy all week at "VICTORIOUS" Neighborhood Day Camp, put on by Forest Home at Antioch Church. Thank you to a generous donor who made it possible for us to bring kids from our Anaheim, Newport AND Long Beach communities.
Our children's ministry coordinator, Haylie Gregory, has organized not one but TWO camps for our NorthEast children to participate in this summer. She is pictured here (far right) along with all of our wonderful kids, and our men's pastor Jason Griffice.
What a night in Long Beach! Special guest, TCMI intern Luke Pettrey, shared a message for our first service "under the tent" (it's WAY too hot inside during summer so we move our ministry into the courtyard!). Luke kept it central and broke down the Gospel message with fresh passion and conviction: he reminded our community that our only HOPE in turning from sin is reconciliation with God through JESUS CHRIST.
Fun fact: Luke has a rich spiritual heritage behind him - his grandfather is Jim Cymbala of Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York. (Check out some Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir clips on YouTube for a musical treat ... or read "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire".) Luke will be hitting our Newport and Anaheim locations as well before he leaves!
We had a super special opportunity this past weekend: a couple of our staff took a roadtrip to Centinela State Prison all the way in Imperial, CA to PLAY SOFTBALL with the inmates! Laura Suk and Sarah Howard represented as our NorthEast "athletes", and we partnered with leadership from Serving California, one of our ministry partners. Centinela is a maximum security prison (level 3), where inmates are serving long-term to life. The day mixed homeruns and slides with conversation about Jesus and purpose. Ministry comes in all forms ... we're thankful for this one! Link to full story
This past month, a group of our NorthEast of the Well children were privileged to attend “Camp Agape”: a getaway specifically designed for kids who have dealt with parental incarceration. Our Children & Families Coordinator, Haylie Gregory, shares on the impact: “Through the worship, bible study, and games at Camp Agape, I witnessed our kids experience the love of Christ and learn about His forgiveness and grace. Each day had a theme: trust, love, forgiveness, hope and prayer. Every kid from NorthEast had an encounter with Christ at camp and came back with a different look in their eye. They got to be themselves, and felt safe to express their feelings.” The mission of Camp Agape ties DIRECTLY into the vision of NorthEast to see generational sin broken for GOOD. THANK YOU Camp Agape California for making this experience possible for our children; we are so grateful for your ministry. Aftermath: The kids were so moved by their time at camp that they wanted to get up and share with the adults at our Monday night service. Each one took the mic to say what they loved and learned!

Celebrating the BAPTISM of Alison & Brianna! 2 ladies from Prototypes took the plunge last Friday, supported by the NorthEast staff and volunteers that have invested in their lives. In a small and intimate setting the ladies shared their journey of faith, the past they've been brought out of, and what led them to this decision. What's wonderful about our Prototypes women is that they stay at their program for a significant period of time (it works towards reunification of mothers with their children), allowing us to see long-term change. Pictured here is Pastor Jason, Alison, and Pastor Laura.
We spent Mother's Day with some of our favorite moms at Village Church in Laguna Woods. Pastor Ward invited our NorthEast ladies to share their testimonies and for Pastor Laura Suk to give a message on John 4 to their congregation. What better time to celebrate the generational sin that has been broken? Happy Mothers Day, all.
Last Thursday, Northeast was honored to be part of a presentation for 400 Christian business people in Newport Beach. Laura Suk spoke about our ministry and some of our needs, and Star Larsuel shared her story of redemption. The Barnabas Group (TBG) was founded with the goal of allowing Christians to use their collective talents as God would lead, in helping advance His Kingdom. Many thanks to Jim West and the Barnabas Group for allowing us to participate!
NorthEast Staff took a field trip to Costa Mesa City Hall and joined others in prayer for our city, state and country.

OUR NORTHEAST TEAM is the biggest we've ever had - with two men now on board!
We enjoyed an all-day staff retreat on Balboa Island: we discussed our individual strengths & weaknesses, job duties & descriptions, shared a devotion, dug into scripture, and prayed for one another - and for the people we will reach. We believe God wants to bring many more lives to Him through NorthEast of the Well, and we are humbled and grateful that we get to be His servants. Will you pray for the unity, protection and passion of our team? A special thank you to Judy Tucker for allowing us to use her beautiful home ... any meeting is better with a view!
Pictured left to right (top row): Kristel Miles, Bethany Devine, Jason Griffice, Sarah Howard, Gina Hughes, Peter Sedlewicz. Left to right (bottom row): Haylie Gregory, Star Larsuel, Jen Sandoval, Laura Suk, Emily Schilling
We were thrilled to dedicate sweet baby girl "Serrowa" to the Lord! Mom Lena just graduated her program at Heritage House North and was recently baptized by NorthEast. Big sister Asia was all smiles for the photo. Gina Hughes, Haylie Gregory, and the NorthEast Anaheim community prayed over the family. We love to see our women choose to put God first not only for themselves, but for their entire household. (Joshua 24:15)
We were blessed to be asked to join the Be Fearless event at Mariners Church this past weekend! Mariners Church was gracious enough to ask us to take part in their mission fair on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. How great for us to be able to articulate the vision that God has called us to do. COME SEE ABOUT A MAN! Thank you Mariners! [from left] Bethany (NE staff), Heather Re (Women at the Well Auxiliary President), Laura Suk (Founder/Executive Director), Star (NE staff), Haylie (NE staff)
We were (unexpectedly) blessed by Mariners Church with this over-sized cardboard check! NorthEast recently formed a partnership with Mariners and we are so excited to see where God leads us together on mission. Mariners also asked us to take part in their Be Fearless missions fair.
With deep gratitude, we thank you Mariners Church.
[ Pictured: Pastor Laura Suk receives the gift with MUCH JOY, embracing Resource Center Director, Jonah Hasse. More pics of the day to come! ]
For the 3rd year in a row, our Women at the Well Auxiliary held their home Spring Luncheon. The purpose of this event is to share the vision of NorthEast in a comfortable, intimate setting, and to grow the Women at the Well Auxiliary. The Auxiliary exists to promote our ministry within the community, and also plays a huge role in planning our biggest event of the year - the Fall Gala (SAVE THE DATE: September 22!). Our 3rd Spring Luncheon was certainly a success! Beautiful day, a receptive crowd, and touching testimonies of change. A special thanks to Heather Re, President of Women at the Well Auxiliary, and Robin Brewer, our host.
For the 3rd time, we were privileged to enter YGC (Youth Guidance Center - or Juvenile Hall) to share our testimonies with young women who are incarcerated. Our NorthEast team boldly proclaimed how new life and hope can be found in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jason Warren Griffice, our new men's pastor, preached his "first" sermon in Newport last night! Jason was involved with our ministry in the early years, and is back to tackle men's discipleship and teaching full-time. It's an exciting season ahead, folks ... more on our men's ministry development SOON.
Pictured here is the time of teaching before the baptism begins. We worship together, singing songs that the girls feel are significant to their personal experiences, and then Pastor Laura asks the girls to share why they are getting baptised. These ladies represent our outreach to Heritage House North, a county recovery program for women with children. We see them twice a week, and through ourministry we get to build relationships and introduce them to Christ. When they make a decision to follow the Lord, we offer them opportunities like baptism, discipleship, and serving! These ones chose to take a stand with their faith today - so proud of each one!
NorthEast of the Well got to present at Vanguard University last weekend for the Annual Ensure Justice Conference! We led a workshop entitled "New Community, New Way of Life", which detailed our ministry model. Bethany, Jen, and Sarah gave their testimonies, Haylie shared about our children and families ministry, and we closed with a worship song. A big thank you to NorthEast of the Well board member, Sandra Morgan, for inviting us. The purpose of the Ensure Justice Conference is to equip teachers, law enforcement, students, and community members to protect and intervene for women and children at high-risk of exploitation and violence.
NorthEast of the Well has been mega-blessed once again! If you know us, you know we make multiple trips to multiple residences throughout the week to get recovery programs full of women and children to our worship gatherings. To keep up with the demand, we've been given a THIRD VAN - praise GOD! This brand-new 12-passenger van was generously donated by Carol Zinngrabe, of Robert & Carol Zinngrabe Family Foundation. THANK YOU, CAROL! PS Look for us crusin' the streets in our sweet new ride.
Pictured is Carol with staff members Sarah, Jen & Bethany
NorthEast of the Well was honored to take part in the CMCA “Correctional Ministry Matters” Conference last weekend.CMCA is the Correctional Ministries & Chaplains Association, whose ministry is to take the Gospel to those in jails, juvenile centers and prisons. NorthEast was asked to lead worship and host a workshop at this one-day conference. We brought members of our community to share about experiencing incarceration, and how it played a part in their testimony of transformation. The conference covered topics such as ministry to women and adolescents, the reentry process, biblical-based trauma healing, and much more. Some of you may know that Pastor Laura Suk has been bringing God’s Word to the incarcerated for over 10 years – please contact us if you want to get involved!More about CMCA here: https://cmcainternational.org/
Thank you Girl Talk OC for including us in your one-day conference! Girl Talk is an open forum where women of all ages and backgrounds can come together to receive faith-based instructions from the Word of God for help with real-life issues. Pastor Grettel leads this ministry, and both her and husband Bishop Taisi regularly minister at NorthEast of the Well Anaheim through worship and speaking. We’re so grateful for their growing partnership!
NORTHEAST + NORTHWEST ::: It was our 3rd time welcoming guests all the way from Northwest University in Washington! Northwest is a Christian college that partners with us annually for our ministry in downtown Long Beach. This past Wednesday, students joined us on an outreach to Lydia House (Long Beach Rescue Mission) and participated in our community gathering through worship and the sharing of their own testimonies. Thank you for blessing us again, Northwest! (Special thanks to their hosts, Teen Challenge Ministry Institute for making it all possible!)
New Women at the Well Auxiliary LEADS! ~ ~ ~ Women at the Well Auxiliary is a group of ladies that helps us put on fundraisers just like these ... we are so grateful for their influence, investment, and heart to help. New positions this year are: Heather Re: President, Barbara Brawner: Vice President, Gaile Fortier: Memberships. THANK YOU LADIES IN ADVANCE FOR SERVING OUR MINISTRY! (A special mention to Mary Byers, our NorthEast Board President, for launching WatW and serving as lead the past 2 years.) ALSO: Our 3rd Annual Spring Luncheon is coming up in April - if you're interested in getting involved / attending, please call us today 949.515.WELL (9355)
19 women came together from our 3 locations (Anaheim, Newport and Long Beach) for an overnight retreat. This time of focus is so pivotal to the development of our relationships and our faith; our theme for the weekend was the COST of discipleship. Out ladies were honest about the challenges they face as they navigate their walk with Christ, and the cost involved not only for themselves but those around them. "Obedience will always cost us something!"
NorthEast has been asked to bring God's Word into 2 new residences, located in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Both are "safe houses": one full of women recovering from cancer / serious heath concerns, and the other with woman escaping addiction, trafficking, and homelessness. We need volunteers to teach, support, and pray. Weekly outreach times: Anaheim Thursdays @ 6:30 p.m. // Garden Grove Fridays @ 10:30 a.m.Contact us today to get involved ... grateful for your support that makes this expansion POSSIBLE!
TODAY was our FIRST BAPTISM CELEBRATION of 2018! We baptised 5 women from Heritage House North (a recovery program for women and children) who have become part of our Anaheim ministry and community. They've each made a decision to turn from the past, and follow Christ into a new life and future. Please pray that this heart change will affect their choices, their healing, their children ...
Every Wednesday we love on a group of people gathered from local recovery and sober living homes with dinner, worship and truth. We continually need drivers, food donations, childcare volunteers, and people to pray. Come join us to check it out, every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. // 600 E 5th Street Long Beach CA.
We have some BIG goals for next year! Let us share ...
Now THIS. IS. EXCITING. We’ve started an important conversation: how we can help our community get back to work (or start to work). Many have difficulty finding a job post-program or incarceration because of criminal records, lack of experience and confidence. NorthEast of the Well aims to step into the gap and provide a REAL opportunity for people to get on their feet. We’re in the process of launching a separate business venture (a social enterprise) that will provide solid employment opportunities for our community. This may take shape through a coffee shop, thrift store, or restaurant – these ideas are being prayerfully and carefully considered. An advisory board is currently being formed, and we invite you to join us through prayer, support or even direct participation as we step into something big! HELP US REACH OUR GOAL FOR NEXT YEAR: $75,000! Donations will help us secure a rental space, train occupational leads, and move towards employing members of our community.
It was a fabulous night for our NorthEast community: we combined the Anaheim & Newport groups to hold one mega-service at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. In our theme of LIGHT OF THE WORLD we had worship, a special scripture presentation, and a message from Pastor Laura Suk. A special thanks to Loaves & Fishes (food team) for feeding the mouths, and all children and serve team volunteers for giving of their time. "The people of darkness have seen a great light ....." A powerful celebration of what God has done - we move with expectation into 2018!
A grateful shout-out to the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa who put on the Christmas party for our children's ministry Monday night at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church - we were so blessed by your generosity. Children from both our Anaheim and Newport communities came together for an extra large celebration! Also big thanks to Patricia Estes, Yuri Cruz & every single volunteer who helped love on these little ones!
NorthEast held a home reception last weekend to introduce new people to our ministry in a comfortable, intimate setting. The afternoon included a short presentation of testimonies and worship, delicious d'orderves and time to socialize. A special thanks to Don & Sandra Ayres for hosting and endorsing our ministry.
NorthEast of the Well held its 2nd Annual Fall Gala on September 23, 2017 at The Oasis Center in Corona del Mar. Hosted by our Women at the Well Auxiliary, the night included dinner, dancing, and oh-so-many-ways to partner with our ever-expanding ministry. Our efforts were met with overwhelming success - even exceeding our goals! God is good, and we're ready for where He'll take us this next year. Thank you to every person who planned, volunteered, and gave on behalf of NorthEast of the Well!
Just held our 6th Annual Discipleship Retreat! 3 groups of ladies came together from our Long Beach, Newport and Anaheim sites. We spend the night away to intentionally focus on a common goal: strengthening one another in Christ. Through meals shared, devotions led, and prayers offered we were blessed by this special time away - thank you to a group of donors that made it possible.
Have you been to our new office yet?!? We're now located at 2025 Newport Blvd #110, and love getting visitors! We've been blessed with 6 office rooms and a large meeting space, which are already full with staff and interns. Come by and say hey!
You know it's summer when ... the baptisms begin! We were thrilled to baptize 5 women from our community this week: 2 ladies from Prototypes Recovery (Tustin), 1 graduate from Heritage House North (Anaheim), 1 long-time community member, and 1 staff member. Each of these women have made an intentional decision to leave the old life behind, and follow Christ into their future. As an outward sign of their inner transformation, they took a public stand and a purposeful plunge! We see them walk out their faith by participating in small group discipleship, serving at weekly community gatherings, and helping us with local outreach. We are proud of each and every one, and praise God for the lives He is continually changing and calling. If you are interested in being baptized, please contact our office 714.953.WELL - the next Baptism Celebration is scheduled for the end of July.
We were excited to have the opportunity to present our ministry at Reunion Church on June 4, 2017. A church plant of ROCKHARBOR Costa Mesa, Reunion Church holds its gatherings at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana.
Pastor Laura Suk was invited to give an overview of the ministry during the 5;30pm service, during which she shared with the Reunion community our values and our ministry goals.
A group of Reunion volunteers is planning a meal for our Anaheim gathering on Monday, June 26th! We look forward to see how the Lord grows this wonderful friendship!
A great volunteer opportunity to help NorthEast of the Well! We need volunteers for the upcoming Rummage Sale at St. Andrew's. Visitors from around the state flock to St. Andrew's during the annual Rummage Sale to find treasures among the donated clothing, furniture, jewelry, electronics, art and other items. A portion of the proceeds will be gifted to our ministry. Volunteers will receive a few free items from sale, and lunch is included.Read more
