WHAT WE DO

WE ENVISION A WORLD SET FREE FROM ALL GENERATIONAL SIN
THROUGH THE TRANSFORMATIVE HEALING POWER OF JESUS CHRIST.

what we do

At NorthEast of the Well, we meet people in their “before;” before they are sober, before they are healed, and before they know Christ. When the lost and hurting experience Jesus’ love for the first time, their hearts are transformed. However, transformation takes time. That’s why we also stay with people in their “after.” Recovery is a process that can only happen in a community. As people leave the treatment programs and residential centers where we host Bible studies, they stay connected to our ministry through weekly gatherings and discipleship. We understand the need to be available to walk hand in hand with our community.

NorthEast of the Well sets people on a path to discover God’s love and experience the freedom that comes from knowing Him. Those who receive Jesus will discover their true identity and step into the purpose God created them for. “We do discipleship,” explains Executive Director and Founder Laura Suk. “We don’t just meet people where they are, we form a community.” NorthEast of the Well makes disciples of men and women who then become disciple-makers themselves. This is a key element of NorthEast of the Well’s ministry, as those who once were “takers” become “givers.” The outcast becomes the witness.

we are the church on the go

GO

Programs / Street Outreach

Jesus met people right where they were. He did not wait for the needs of the people to come to him. Just like Jesus, we are compelled to GO. We GO to where the needs are the greatest. We GO to more than 22 transitional programs, shelters, safe houses, jails  and drug treatment programs weekly bringing God’s Word, worship, and testimony in a way that leads to deeper connection with Him. We GO to the streets of Orange and Los Angeles counties reaching women caught in sexual exploitation. We offer the hope of the gospel to the most desperate and marginalized in our communities.

GATHER

Gatherings / Baptisms / Prayer

We GATHER in order to form healthy communities. We host weekly gatherings in Anaheim, Newport Beach, and Long Beach with the surrounding programs and communities. We preach to reach our communities in ways that resonate and foster spiritual growth and development.

Our gatherings are essential for providing safe spaces for authentic testimonies and intentional time for prayer and worship.

GIVE

Trainings / Discipleship

We GIVE back though equipping and training. We offer trauma training (Treasures) to survivors of human trafficking as well as our partners who are seeking to be further equipped to eradicate modern day slavery by giving a voice to the voiceless. Our Steps to Success program offers an opportunity for those who desire to go deeper in their relationship with God and grow as leaders through serving and/or an internship at NorthEast of the Well. Steps to Success empowers those who were once considered outcasts to be witnesses.

OUTCAST TO WITNESS

We provide weekly small group Bible studies, one-on-one discipleship, and large group gatherings for over 400 individuals who are in detox programs, sober living homes, reentry/transitional living, human trafficking safe houses, jails, and juvenile detention centers. We use restorative justice approaches along with biblical teaching to address isolation and the root causes of addiction, crime, and generational sin.

Anti Human Trafficking

VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS

Voice for the Voiceless is our anti-human trafficking program and a vital part of NorthEast of the Well. Currently, we partner with cornerstone organizations in the community such as Finding Freedom, Gems Uncovered, Forgotten Children, and Treasures to conduct and lead outreaches throughout Orange County and the redlight districts in Los Angeles. We also offer training to local churches, volunteers, and community/social services leaders to equip them with trauma knowledge and practical tools for engaging with victims in their own communities. In early 2022, we were invited to join the South Los Angeles Anti-Trafficking Committee (SLAATC) and take part in anti-human trafficking efforts for the Los Angeles Super Bowl.

Outpost of Hope on Figueroa

Located in the heart of Los Angeles along the Figueroa corridor—an area long impacted by human trafficking and exploitation—Northeast of the Well is planting a new mission outpost dedicated to bringing light into the darkest places. Based out of a local church, Faithful Saint Marks, our goal is to offer safety, dignity, and the transformative hope of the Gospel to individuals who have been trafficked or exploited.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to be present, to be compassionate, and to be unwavering in love. Through street outreach, Christ-centered care, spiritual support, and practical resources, we seek to walk alongside those on their journey toward healing and restoration.

Hope on Figueroa is a sacred space—a place where no one is forgotten, where stories are honored, and where Christ's love redefines identity, worth, and future.

STEPS TO SUCCESS

JOB READINESS

- Helping people with criminal backgrounds who have been in cycles of addiction, sexual exploitation, trauma prepare for and secure employment.

- Steps to Success is a 10-week job readiness/life skills course that teaches and equips individuals with basic life skills, responsibility, commitment, professional interpersonal skills, financial literacy, interview training, and resume building. Additionally, Steps to Success also provides employment opportunities through our robust community network.

- Why Life Skills? Life skills are job skills. When asked which skills they consider most important for their employees to bring to the job, hundreds of employers across major industry sectors responded that “soft skills” such as teamwork, good communication, adaptability, and problem solving are more important than specific technical skills, which are more easily learned.‍
